... and that's exactly why, we ask everyone who plans to buy a mastiff to think carefully. Because they are much more than giant dogs, with which one noticed everywhere. A mastiff is not an object to acquire to compensate for any inferiority complex.
A mastiff is very tall and needs space accordingly. A small apartment in a big city or an apartment on the fifth floor is completely unsuitable for a mastiff. Furthermore, a mastiff needs the relationship to humans and should not be kept only in the kennel.
You should also be aware that a mastiff does not fit in a sports car. Most mastiffs like to drive a car and like to get into a Renault Clio. But at the latest when you have to go to the vet and realize that you do not get the dog because of an injury in the trunk of the Clio, then you are glad, if you have a doggrabble car at home.
Petite strappy high heels look great, but unfortunately are not very practical if you want to go for a walk with a mastiff. A slight jerk of the Great Dane on the leash and the heels are next to the shoes. Therefore, you should leave the vanity at home and put on something more appropriate.
It is also always nice to see how happy the dog is when we arrive by car somewhere. Great Dane is happy, shakes vigorously and everyone who stands within two meters gets a part of joy. Thankfully, there are huge handbags from which you can conjure kitchen towels and towels. After all have been freshly showered and cleaned, the show begins with the usual sayings of more or less intelligent people:

A friendly waiter brings us a Latte Macciato in the café ... and a bucket of water for the dog. Then he leaves quickly because he knows what happens when the dog has drunk and shakes his head.
Our pet food dealer rubs his hands and greets us exuberantly when we drive up - his livelihood for the time being is assured. Our veterinarian can practically demand what he wants, we just need one who comes home in an emergency. Estimated 70-80 kilos can not be sick or injured in the car.
Our dog bed is only slightly smaller than the couch and this in turn is made of durable leather.
Our garden, or rather our property is an adventure playground for our dogs. They have redesigned our garden according to their needs. Huge holes, reminiscent of graves, give the never really existing English lawn a special look. Freshly planted trees are fun toys and the flowerbed is wonderfully soft for a little break from work - that's why we no longer have flowerbeds. Fences should be stable and firmly set in concrete, because if a happy Great Dane leaning on ... they flip over.
Dogs like to be warm and cuddly and usually have little desire to freeze their ass in bad weather. But even a Great Dane has to get out in bad weather. It is best to prepare large bath towels for the return, because if such a big dog shakes wet in the house, you can almost hire an interior designer. Unfortunately, we lack the money for this luxury, so we painted our walls with latex paint.
We have gotten used to setting up a lot of Klimbim in the apartment, as the joyful wagging tails of our Doggen have already fallen victim to some Staubfänger.
Doggen are extremely people-related, needy and sensitive. They treat tenderly, even with the smallest of children, and prove to be wonderful playmates for children who have learned to treat a dog respectfully and not roughly. Our son grew up with our mastiffs, and apart from a couple of cocky puppies, it always amazes us how careful and good-natured these dogs are. The cats are also fantastic with our mastiffs. Not every cat has such great friends.
All this sounds a bit over the top or just funny ... you do not have to take everything so seriously. People who have Doggen or knew that everyday life with a Great Dane can be like this ... actually you could write a book about it.
A mastiff is a family member who is always attentive and aware of every problem. In case of a breakup or other problems, it happens again and again that the dog is simply deported. You can not foresee some things, but you have to realize that a mastiff, who is torn from her family, suffers very much.
With the purchase of a mastiff you have much less visitors - which is sometimes not wrong. Some people are just sensitive and do not want drool spots on their clothes and no big dog on their laps. A mastiff can not be so easy to get rid of, she also wants her attention.
Our mailbox hangs in front of the entrance gate and what does not fit in there usually has to be picked up at the post office, because the postmen have great respect for the even bigger dogs ... and not just the postman. We do not have any magazine salesmen or people who want to convince us of their religion. However, that does not mean that Great Danes are very watchful. It has happened to us that people have made it to our front door and rang, without a dog has barked before. I can say in good conscience that Doggen are not good watchdogs.
If you want to go out in style, it's a good idea to sneak past the sleeping mastiff. First, to avoid the reproachful looks, because the dog is not allowed and secondly, not everyone has to look right at the drool spots on the clothes, that you have a mastiff at home.

... .You may of course meet the potential mom even before the litter. We'll show you where and how the puppies grow up. With about three weeks, when mother and babies have put off the birth well and everything has gotten settled, the puppies may be visited and firmly reserved. Then a down payment, about one third of the selling price, due and there is of course a preliminary contract. You can then choose a name for your future family member. He should start with the first letter of each litter. Until the delivery you may, if you want and can visit the puppy a few more times, by appointment. Of course we also keep you up to date with photos during this time. The little ones may then move into their new family with about ten weeks, if the breed warden has been okay and the puppies are fit. The puppies are all, without exception, delivered with purchase contract, the required vaccinations, a chip and papers. We do not accept installment.
